2. Urban Food Security Network (ReSA)

The Cali Urban Food Security Network (ReSA) pilot project forms part of a public policy on food security led by the national government with the support of departmental and local governments. It is based on an analysis of experiences and lessons learned in different regions of the country, for the purpose of refining policies and strategies that will be definitive for comprehensively achieving the goals proposed for the eradication of hunger and the reduction of poverty, within the context of the fulfillment of the millennium development objectives.

The general objective is to advance toward an intervention strategy promoting sustainable nutritional security in six social priority wards in Cali, in such a way as to support the construction of a public policy.

3. Agricultural Productive Chains

This project strengthens small blackberry, chili pepper and grape farmers in technical, administrative and social skills to enable them to improve earnings through increased productivity, the adoption of good agricultural practices, the implementation of appropriate technology, environmental management and productive chain marketing
services in 13 targeted municipalities.

4. El Retiro Housing Improvement Project

The project grew out of an alliance between the Secretary of Social Housing, the Family Welfare Fund of Valle (Comfandi) and Fundación Carvajal, for the purpose of complying with the law enacted by the current government, which created and regulated the Unique Improvement Fund through Decree 3702. It was implemented with the creation of a pilot project in cities of more than 500,000 inhabitants, such as Bogotá, Cúcuta, Medellín and Cali.

5. Calama Housing Project

A social interest housing project developed in the Municipality of Santander de Quilichao, Cauca, on land of the Workers’ Cooperative of the Businesses of Grupo Carvajal. It was initiated in response to the lack of suitable housing for a group of workers with the company Imprelibros, and the lack of projects of this nature in the
municipality.

6. Center for the Productive Development of Food

Since 2005, Fundación Carvajal, with the support of the ACTEC Foundation of Belgium and the Limmat Foundation of Switzerland, has executed a program to strengthen the food sector through technical and business training, consulting and the promotion of human development in the Center for the Productive Development of Food. In 2007, in addition to serving vulnerable populations, the Foundation provided business and technical assistance to 25 entrepreneurs in the sector to facilitate the implementation of the initiatives.

7. Project To Improve The Environment And Landscape Of The Eastern Waterway Canal Of Cali

The project contributes to the social, economic and environmental development of the vulnerable communities bordering the eastern canal of the city of Cali. It also promotes the environmental, physical and urban recovery of the eastern canal protection zone through the development of infrastructure projects and citizenship participation.

8. Coolimva

This project seeks to promote alternatives for income generation for people with escarse resources, through training, assitance and support in the developmet of their own business model (Cooperativa de Trabajo Asociado). Coolimva's business offer is to clean and mantain the citie's drains and waterway canals.

9. Tourism - Destino Paraíso

Rural tourism is considered to be one of the principal indigenous industries in the Valle del Cauca region, and it will be promoted with the initiation of a program to support the competitiveness of MYPEs (medium and small business) that make up the sector. It will take advantage of the natural resources, historic legacy and the farming culture of the region, among other attibutes.

Our Programs

Income Generation

The income generation programs’ target is to generate and promote intervention models that contribute to local development of a territory through Carvajal Foundation’s beneficiary population. Several specialized programs are offered to support population groups in different stages of productive projects. Currently the program is established in Aguablanca District, Commune #18, Montebello municipality in Cali and in rural zones of 18 towns of Valle del Cauca.
