Carvajal Foundation’s programs and projects are based on eight main points: The Foundation was created in Cali in 1961 by the Carvajal family, owner of Carvajal S.A. For its endowment, the family donated 23% of the the shares of the Carvajal Organization, making it the largest shareholder. Our definition of vulnerable families Fundación Carvajal has decided to focus its intervention towards families in vulnerable conditions, in priority zones in the city of Cali and the Valle del Cauca department (in Colombia). We consider a familiy to be in vulnerable conditions when their income are not enough to cover their basic needs, such as food, housing, health and education.Framework of reference To fulfill its Mission, the Fundación Carvajal has adopted three documents that act as a framework of reference, giving guidelines to fight against poverty and promote a more equitable society. 1. Millenium goal – United Nations - Eradicate hunger and extreme poverty 2. Opportunities for the majority - Inter-American Development Bank - Citizenship identification 3. Social protection network against extreme poverty - National Government - Identification
